Dine and Drive

While Porsche ownership is about power, precision, and speed, it’s also about a community of people with the same interests. Drive & Dine (D&D) events provide opportunities for us to travel and experience things together in a relaxed, informal setting. D&D events take us down scenic blue roads where we visit restaurants, vineyards, breweries, and ice cream shoppes, as well as museums, national parks, historic inns, car collections, festivals, and more. The events, as detailed below, offer club members a robust variety of off-track activities that range from an afternoon drive to a three-day out-of-state sojourn. Drive and Dine is supported by a committee of dedicated volunteers and guest hosts who design well planned events that include every possible detail, all you need to do is sign up and enjoy.

DRIVE AND DINE FORMAT

All D&D Events fall into one of four basic categories as detailed below. See D&D Calendar and PCA Potomac Weekly Blast Emails for scheduled event dates. Event registration is accomplished using the Motorsport REG Website…instructions can be found below under registration summary.drive and dine topdown

Monthly Brunches:  The Monthly Brunches are Bi-Monthly rain or shine meetups at convenient locations in both Maryland and Virginia.  The Virginia Brunch occurs on the First Saturday, while the Maryland Brunch occurs on the Third Saturday of each Month.  Event registration is not required, participants are responsible for the cost of their meals.  This is a great icebreaker event for new members.

Meetups: A meetup is a single day driving event that includes a local meetup followed by a 1 to 2-hour planned scenic drive that often ends at a local winery, attraction, or other entertainment venue.  Advance registration is required, and a small fee is charged for each vehicle.

Drive and Dine: The traditional D&D is a single day event that includes a local meetup followed by a 1 to 3-hour planned scenic drive that concludes with an organized meal.  Advance registration is required…participants will typically order and pay for meals in advance on a per-person basis.

Tours:  The Tour is a multi-day event that includes a local meetup followed by longer scenic drives to a lodging destination.  These well-planned events offer multiple organized drives, dining, and other activities that are often out of the local area/state. Advance registration is required…participants are usually charged in advance for event costs on a per-person basis.  Individual participants are responsible for lodging costs, often at discounted group rates.

Group PhotoWHAT TO EXPECT

Although each event is different, most D&D Events follow a similar format.

The drive begins at a convenient starting point, typically a large parking lot with nearby facilities. Participants are encouraged to arrive with a full charge/fuel tank, printed route instructions, and an empty bladder. At the scheduled time, Event Hosts will conduct a brief meeting to discuss the rules, routes, and any other special instructions. Participants who volunteer to support as a Group Lead or Sweep will receive an additional briefing and be issued two-way radios for enroute communications.

Once all administrative activities are completed, the Drive Groups will depart in 5 to 10-minute intervals. The Drive legs are typically 60 to 90-minutes long, with planned restroom breaks as required. The number of legs and breaks will vary depending on the route and event type. While driving styles may vary between drive groups…this is not a race, participants are expected to follow posted road signage.

Members will need to monitor the PCA Potomac Blast Emails for Event Registration dates…confirmed event participants will receive an Email containing additional event information. Confirmed participants are expected to review event communications and complete any required actions. All participants, to include Spouses and accompanied minors must complete the SpeedWaiver Liability forms prior to the event. The member is responsible for ensuring the correct email address and valid credit card is associated with their Motorsport Account.

REGISTRATION SUMMARY

PCA Potomac uses an online registration system provided by MotorsportReg (MSR) https://www.motorsportreg.com. When creating your MortorsportReg account, it is important to include your PCA Membership Number, active PCA Potomac members receive priority when registering for events.

Once an account has been created, registration to PCA Potomac events can be accessed using the following link:  http://www.pcapotomac.motorsportreg.com. Event notifications will also be sent via the weekly Blast email. These events sell out quickly, as space is often limited due to the size of the venue. Pre-registration is required for most D&D events.

When signing up for an event, your registration status will appear as “New,” “Confirmed,” or “Waitlisted.” Event participation is not formally approved until your status is listed as “Confirmed.”

Approximately 1 week prior to the event, confirmed participants will receive additional details such as driving rules, driving groups, route information, maps, hotel reservation links, etc. All correspondence will be sent to the email address on file with MSR.

Registration fees will NOT be charged unless your event status shows confirmed, billing typically occurs 2-3 weeks prior to the event.

All registered participants are required to:

  • Sign an electronic waiver via the SpeedWaiver system. *SpeedWaiver issues a photo credential that must be presented and visually checked to confirm the organization, date and location of the event and that the photo matches the person holding the credential.
  • Attend a drivers’ briefing, which will be held the day of the event, prior to departure.
