This judged event, traditionally held in early May, is our only 'formal' event wherein Judges selected by the club use a scoring sheet and points are deducted from a maximum possible score based on condition and cleanliness. Various concours rules are used depending on the level of competition.
The Deutsche Marque Concours d' Elegance is an all day event where Judges from our local Potomac Region club use score sheets for each vehicle in a particular category. They do "top only", meaning that the undercarriage of the car is not scored. The judges examine the body, interior, trunk and engine compartment for both originality and cleanliness. They may even ask for the owner to start the car and test lights, radio and horn for operation.
Numerous categories allow for virtually every type and generation of Porsche to compete. What makes this event so unique is the fact that two other large clubs participate with us - the Mercedes Benz and BMW clubs from the MD, VA and DC area. This event is perhaps the best chance to see beautifully preserved older (and newer) automobiles from the most renowned automobile manufacturers in the world.
The Deutsche Marque Concours d' Elegance Committee welcomes any and all Porsches models whether they are old or new in the spirit of friendly 'competition'.
