Each year, we host a few dozen kiddos from Jefferson County Parks and Rec Summer Camp at the track for 1 day of fun! This is a well-established program and I am looking for an individual or several people to take over the coordination of this event. They would work side-by-side with me this year and run it themselves (with me as a phone-a-friend) next year. The date this year is Friday, July 25th. Responsibilities include: Coordination with Parks and Rec and the DE team in regards to schedule, reaching out to vendors to gather supplies/donations, soliciting and managing a few dozen volunteers, setting a fun and safe program for the kiddos and working with the track and with the camp to make sure everyone is waivered and banded appropriately. Please contact pat@pcapotomac.org for more information. The Community Service Committee will support the person or people that take on coordination of this event. Together, we can make this event a success for years to come. Maybe it was something interesting (or perplexing) about the driving experience you discovered at the wheel of these fabulous driving machines. Or it was an amusing conversation you had with a curious passerby: (“Yeah, bags go in the front AND the back trunks in the Boxster!”). Or a brief but memorable exchange you had with law enforcement. (Example: “But officer, I had NO IDEA how fast I was going,” proved not to be a viable defense.) Well, hopefully not. You get the idea. Send your brief story and a photo of you and/or the car (if you have it) to Steve Grumbach at dveditor@pcapotomac.org. And look for it to appear in a future edition of DV!
